He helps individuals understand RDSP, RESP, TFSA, and RRSPs to save money and get access to government grants and tax assistance. HearSmart - Promoting Effective Communication with Hearing Loss

Thursday, April 30-May 28, 12:00-1:00 pm $100 ($80 for IDHHC members) IDHHC is excited to announce an HearSmart program via Zoom available to IDHHC members. The 5-session program will be Thursday lunch hours at 12-1pm from April 30 to May 28. IDHHC audiologists Neal Boafo and Abilgail Smiles will facilitate the sessions. Hearing loss can significantly impact quality of life. Difficulties with communication can affect our relationships with our partners, family members, friends and colleagues. Although hearing aids help to improve the quality of life for people with hearing loss, residual difficulties can often remain. At its core, the HearSmart program focuses on communication challenges such as: • Decreased ability to hear in difficult listening situations • Reduced participation or withdrawal in activities • Stress, fatigue, and difficulty focusing • Diminished ability or stamina in relation to listening The primary goal of HearSmart is to help individuals re-integrate into a world full of sound which includes assisting them in developing skills to hear their best and more confidently navigate various listening situations, encompasses these main points: • Improving communication skills for greater engagement and participation • Learning to effectively self-advocate in various situations • Learning how to cope with the social and emotional aspects of hearing loss

Let's Talk is a speechreading and communications strategies course that helps people with hearing loss, and their families, communicate better.
