Nominations for the Board 2019

Following the procedures as outlined in the IDHHC Bylaws, five Board members are continuing into the second year of their two year term.

Four people have been nominated for elections to start a two year term (one is a returning Director Mark Dunn, and three new Directors).

The introduction of the three new nominees, Linda Bradford, Alanna Cooke and Jan Todd along with their biographies are posted below.

At the AGM, members will be voting on the slate of candidates put forward by the Board of Directors Nomination Committee.

Lifetone Technology Recall

Lifetone Technology recall – This recall involves the Lifetone HLAC151 Bedside Fire Alarm and Clock, an assistive alerting device intended for in-home use by individuals with hearing loss. It is to be placed in a nighttime sleeping area next to the bed.

The white, rectangle clock measures 21.6 cm (8.5 inches) wide by 10.7 cm (4.2 inches) high by 11.4 cm (4.5 inches) wide. The fire alarm and clock has “Lifetone” printed on the front of the unit and a digital display with the date, time, and type of emergency. There is a large black dome-shaped microphone on the top left of the alarm.

This recall involves units with a production date of July 2016 with serial numbers ranging from AC160600001 through AC160604102 and production date of March 2017 with serial numbers AC170100001 through AC170106030 only. The serial number is printed on the left side of the silver sticker on the bottom of the unit.

Info Hubs

IDHHC will host monthly “Info Hubs” starting January 14, 2019. On the 2nd Monday of each month, we will feature staff & guest speakers on various Hearing Health related topics. Presentations will be held at the Victoria IDHHC offices, from 1:30 – 3pm, on the 2nd Monday of each month. ASL interpreters provided upon request.

WAVLI Hosting Meeting in Victoria, November 17th

ATTENTION: Deaf Community & Interpreters

You are invited to a special meeting, hosted by WAVLI (Westcoast Association of Visual Language Interpreters) on Saturday, November 17th, from 12:30 – 3:30 in Victoria at the James Bay Branch of the public library at 385 Menzies Street.

There is lots of information to share and we really encourage you to attend.

IDHHC hosted a Townhall meeting on June 16th for members of the Deaf Community. It was facilitated by Linda Cundy of Edmonton.

Summer Celebration
