Supporting community inclusion
Island Deaf and Hard of Hearing Centre is the leading provider of inclusive communication services, providing interpreting and captioning services for individuals, businesses and events on Vancouver Island. We’re committed to working with all stakeholders to create an inclusive community where everyone, regardless of their hearing ability, can thrive and participate fully.
For over 20 years IDHHC has been the leading provider of professional interpreting services all over BC, working with all size of projects, non profits, government and commercial enterprises. Most notably, in 2020, our Communication Services team was tasked with providing ASL translation for the BC Government daily Covid press briefings.
In 2022, with the implementation of the BC Accessibilty Act, we have seen an increased interest and new opportunities to support organizations in creating inclusive and accessible spaces for the Deaf, DeafBlind and hard of hearing communities.
In the last year, we’ve worked with Theatre Skam, Kaleidoscope Theatre, Theatre Inconnu, Victoria Festival of Authors, Ghost Walks, Align Entertainment, Saanich Family Arts Day Festival, Intrepid Theatre, Vancouver Island Regional Library, Powerll River Public Library, Wildlife Recover Centre in Errington, Forever Fishing in Courtenay and many more!
