Below are the services IDHHC will still be offering during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hearing Health Services
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, IDHHC Hearing Health Services has suspended in-person elective and non-essential services, as per provincial regulatory college (CSHBC) recommendations. If you are experiencing an emergency or urgent hearing health matter, please contact our office. Audiologist availability will be limited to certain days. Emergency or urgent matters include:
- A sudden hearing loss requiring an immediate hearing evaluation
- Hearing aid malfunction resulting in an inability to communicate (for individuals with severe/profound hearing loss)
If you have questions or concerns regarding your hearing loss or your hearing aids that can be answered over the phone or Skype video, please contact us to schedule a telehealth appointment.
- If your hearing aid is not functioning, please call our office, as the staff may be able to arrange a drop off and pick up at our office for a specific scheduled date and time to possibly have it repaired.
- If you are looking to purchase any technical aids or assistive technology please send us an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or give us a call at 250.592.8144 and we will do our very best to make arrangements to get you what you need.
Interpreting and Captioning Services
Interpreting and captioning services are available and can be booked by emailing email@example.com. Some services may need to be modified to adhere to social distancing; and many services can be provided remotely. Contact for interpreting is Monday to Friday (with limited hours each day) through email and text (see How To Reach Us).
Family and Community Services
Our Family & Community team are working part time and available via email, Skype, FaceTime and text (see How To Reach Us). Please note that because of modified work hours responses may take 1 to 2 business days; and in-person services have been suspended.
Case managers and employment services team are available on modified hours and can be reached in Nanaimo and Victoria via email and text (see How To Reach Us). Please note that in-person services are currently suspended and because of modified work hours responses may take 1 to 2 business days.
